RugbyJP.com has picked its starting Wales team to play Japan in the first Test on 5 July following interim head coach Matt Sherratt's squad announcement on Tuesday.

The Cardiff head coach resumes his role from the Six Nations where he replaced Warren Gatland on an interim basis.

Wales' 33-man squad will be led by captain Dewi Lake while Nicky Smith, Elliot Dee, Aaron Wainwright and Josh Adams are the only survivors from their 2019 World Cup campaign in Japan.

Welsh great Taulupe Faletau, who missed the 2019 showpiece event through injury, is the most experienced member of the squad with 108 caps while Sherratt has called up six uncapped players.

RugbyJP has picked a starting Wales XV for the opening Test in Kitakyushu - which was the squad's base during the 2019 World Cup - from the 33-man squad.

Wales will move on to Kobe for the second Test match against Eddie Jones' Brave Blossoms on 12 July.

RugbyJP.com will be on location for both games. Stay tuned to our site and social media platforms for full coverage.
