A wild boar is on the loose in Kawasaki in a residential area near the home stadium of Kurt-Lee Arendse’s Mitsubishi Sagamihara Dynaboars.
The wild boar has been spotted near the Dynaboars’ Sagamihara Gion Stadium and around Shin-Yurigaoka Station.
There is concern in the local area after more than 10 sightings have been reported this week with the latest coming on Friday afternoon.
The reporter who first encountered the wild boar reported it to the local government and police are now on high alert. "The image I often hear of is of a ferocious wild boar, so it is scary if you like that kind of thing,” a university student told TV Asahi.
It’s believed that wild boars are gradually moving south and possibly via the Tama River that flows out between Tokyo and Yokohama. Kawasaki City officials are urging people who come across wild boars not to try to capture them but to contact the police.
The Dynaboars host division three side Secom Rugguts in their final pre-season game on Saturday at their training ground which is 10km from their home stadium.
